The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) said on Wednesday that it generated N199.6 million in 14 months at Maje customs outstation in Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Mr Aliyu Bello, an Assistant Comptroller of Customs, who is the Station Officer, announced this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maje.
He said that in 2012, the station generated N170.1million from duties paid on 1,710 imported vehicles.
Bello added that N29 million was recorded by the station on imported vehicles from January to February.
He said that the station would improve on its revenue generation activities by being vigilant.
The assistant comptroller said that the station looked forward to a Customs Processing Centre (CPC) to be established in the area.
Bello added that the proposed centre would enhance revenue generation and reduce delays experienced at the station during transactions.
He said that the station had enjoyed maximum cooperation with the business community, especially in blocking all illegal routes used by importers along the border.
