The opposition to the eligibility of a Goodluck Jonathan/Namadi Sambo ticket in the 2015 presidential election on grounds of allegedly agreement to run for one term has been described as of constitutional backing.
A group under the aegis of Jonathan/Sambo Solidarity Forum, Home and Abroad (JSSFHA), while faulting such pact, urged Nigerians to disregard such claims.
Last weekend, Niger State governor, Babangida Aliyu, alleged that President Jonathan signed a pact with the PDP governors to run for only one term.
But yesterday, JSSFHA urged Nigerians to ignore the claim and support President Jonathan and Alhaji Namadi Sambo for the 2015 presidential election.
JSSFAH says it is the constitutional right of both individuals to seek another term in office if they deem it necessary.
In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday and jointly signed by the national president and secretary of the group, Hon. Franklin Ekong and Mr. Idoko Hilary Nduka, the group urged President Jonathan to ignore the allegation and pursue his ambition.
The statement reads in parts:? “We want to call on Nigerians to join hands with this God-given leader to transform Nigeria rather than trying to engage Mr. President in uninteresting, wasteful arguments that are uncalled for.
“It is our desire as a group to advise the good people of Nigeria to disregard any argument that is of personal or group interest.
