Not less that thirty-seven Civil Society groups in the six states of the Niger Delta at the weekend, offered to accompany the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, to the House of Representatives public hearing on the petition filed by the civil society organizations in Edo State against the alleged shoddy investigation and cover up of the murder of the late governor’s Principal Private Secretary, Comrade Olaitan Oyerinde.
The first hearing of the petition by the House Committee on Public Petition, held on the 13th of February 2013, was adjourned by the Chairman of the Committee, UzoAzubuike, over the demands made by the respondent, the Nigeria Police Force, which team was led by Mr. Joe-KyariGadzama (SAN).
One of the demands had been the attendance of the signatories to the petition.The Chairman had particularly requested for the credentials of the signatories for which reason, the counsel to the petitioner, Mr. Anthony Ewere, had promised to furnish the committee with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration certificate of the individual groups or organizations that made up the groups before the petition would be heard next week.
