A total of 563.93 million shares worth N5.9 billion were traded in 5,682 deals on the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
This was against the 631.17 million shares valued at N3.9 billion exchanged in 6,370 deals on Tuesday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the market indicators, however, appreciated due to price gains by some blue chips.
The All-Share Index appreciated by 122.94 points or 0.36 percent to close at 33,736.81 against the 33,613.87 recorded on Tuesday.
The market capitalisation, which opened at N10.756 trillion, grew by N39 billion to close at N10.795 trillion.
NewGold led the price gainers’ chart with a gain of N19 to close at N2,472 per unit.
Nestle gained N2.97 to close at N903.06 per share,while OkomuOil grew by N2.55 to close at N53.55 per share.
PZ Cussons appreciated by N2.40 to close at N40.40 per share, while Nigerian Breweries rose by N2.30 to close N166.30 per share.
On the other hand, UAC-Property led the price losers’ chart with a loss of N1.12 to close at N14 per share.
Zenith Bank dropped 39k to close at N21.11 per share.
NAHCO depreciated by 15k to close at N8per share, while RT Briscoe lost 11k to close at N2.22 per share.
