Some beneficiaries of “Eko Free Health Mission”– sponsored by the Lagos State Government– on Thursday commended Gov. Babatunde Fashola for the initiative.

They gave the commendation in interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), at the end of the programme held between Feb. 25 and March 6 in Lagos.

The health mission was organised for the residents of Ayobo/Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, said that the mission was the state government’s means of ensuring that people have unhindered access to qualitative healthcare.

Idris said the initiative was to take healthcare to the grassroots and the under-served areas of the state.

According to him, the mission is particularly very significant since it complements the government’s effort at bringing to the lowest minimum issue of untimely deaths in the state.

Mrs Olabisi Adegboyega, a 52-year-old trader, thanked the state government for giving her free eye surgery and treatment.

Adegboyega said she was surprised to know that her eyes would be operated on free of charge.

“I was even given free eye glasses after the surgery and I can now see very well,” she said.
