Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom state on Sunday doled out the sum of N36.5million to the players of the Super Eagles and technical staff of the team for winning the last Nation’s Cup in South Africa.
?Akpabio who announced the donation at the Government House Banquet Hall, Uyo the state capital said? each of the twenty three players? were to get one million naira each? and that three Assistant coaches?? one million naira each, while? the chief coach, Stephen Keshi got two million naira and? the seventeen? t back room staff? five hundred thousand each.
?Akpabio also announced a donation of an already completed three bedroom apartment by the state government to the Eagle’s goal tender, Mr. Vincent Enyeama, an indigene of the state.??
?He said besides the donation, he will discuss with the Nigerian Football Federation to see how assistance could be given to the team for the confederation cup in Brazil.
?He however warns the? players against complacency and use of performance enhancing drugs in the cause of their careers as doing so will only limit the extent of their performance.
Akpabio said ‘thank God that you have a coach who has been a player and a captain of the team, you must respect him because without discipline you cannot move forward. If he was into drugs to enhance his performance, he would not have been where he is today, so you must emulate him.
