Newly-formed political association, All Progressive Congress (APC), on Monday in Abuja said it was determined not to go back on its existing acronym.
?
The association’s interim spokesman, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made this known at a press briefing shortly after the group’s Merger Committee met.
?
“We have never thought to change the acronym APC, and we shall not, because as far as we are concerned we are following the rules and the laws.
?
“We are completely on the right track and we are not going to make any mistake,” he added.
Mohammed said APC had fulfilled all righteousness by adhering to INEC’s conditions for the registration of the mega association.
?
The interim spokesman said the committee’s meeting was to perfect the association’s manifesto along with the approved constitution, slogan and logo.
?
He said these would all be added to letter the association would submit to INEC.
?
The spokesman said the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) had given a letter of notice of its convention that would take place in Lagos on April 18 to INEC.
?
“INEC has replied and promised to witness the occasion,’’ he said.
Mohammed said the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) had also put together its own committee so as to also have its convention.
?
“The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) has done the same thing too,’’ he said.
The spokesman said the convention by the parties was part of the resolve to become APC. (NAN)
