The Nigeria Football Federation has saluted the Golden Eaglets for thrashing Ghana 6-1 in an opening African U-17 championship game in Morocco.
The Eaglets showed class and poise against their Ghanaian counterparts with top striker Issac Success netting four times.? The football house has urged the Manu Garba-led side to stay focused
so as to lift the cup. Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Aminu Maigari, said the Eaglets have proved that the future of the game in Nigeria is very bright. “I am very impressed and satisfied with this start of the Golden Eaglets.
They have started well and I have urged them to keep up the tempo,” tasked Maigari. “It is just the first game and they have shown a lot of hunger for success.
“I am particularly impressed at the manner they controlled and dominated that game. They have shown that the future of Nigeria football is bright.”
“I would not say I am surprised at the performance of the team but I am rather dazed at the score line against a top team like Ghana,” added the NFF general secretary Musa Amadu, who incidentally marked his 51st birthday on the day the U17s were humbling the Black Starlets.
“Even before this tournament we knew the potentials of the U17 team. However, we have urged them not to be carried away with the victory against Ghana, but to stay focused on winning the championship which we last won in 2007.”
