An Abuja High Court yesterday sacked leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Rivers State chapter headed by one Chief Godpower Umejuru Ake, a group believed to be loyalists of the incumbent governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
The judgment, according to political watchers in the state, is a legal victory for President Goodluck Jonathan who is having a cold war with governor Ameachi ahead 2015 presidential ambitions.
LEADERSHIP also gathered that the judgment favours the deputy education minister, Nyiso Wike, who is planting himself to succeed Amaechi in 2015.
Jonathan’s group led by one Obuah Amechi Felix and Walter Ibibia Opuene had dragged the PDP and four others to court asking it stop the party from recognising one Chief Godpower Umejuru Ake as chairman of Rivers State PDP.
Other defendants in the suit are the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), chairman and secretary of the electoral panel of the PDP in Rivers State, Chief Dan Orbih and Barrister Steve Emekieze respectively, as well as Chief Godpower Umejuru Ake as 2nd to 5th defendants.
