There was a palpable tension, yesterday, in Kaduna, following the killing of two policemen by unknown gunmen in Tudun Wada area of Kaduna metropolis.
The gunmen had, Tuesday night, opened fire on the police patrol team along Musawa Road, killing two and leaving other officers with severe wounds and they are presently receiving treatment at the 44 Armed Forces Hospital.
Eyewitness said, immediately the gunmen arrived the scene, they opened fire at the two policemen.
The eyewitness added that the sporadic shootings brought tension in the area as residents were seen running for safety.
He said that the two injured policemen were rushed to salamat hospital by some people around before the arrival of the operation yaki vehicle.
According to him, one of the police officers died before reaching the hospital, while the second police man gave up at 44th Army hospital.
The gunmen after the shootings fled the area before the police arrived.
“I saw when the policemen were rushed to the hospital. Two of them where critically injured. I think the other one was hit by bullet on the head and he died before reaching the hospital. While the second person I saw bleeding through the leg, hand and somewhere around his back,” he added.
