Apprehension heightened in the Enugu State capital yesterday following the brutal murder of a pastor, Rev. Victor Nnaduagwu.
Until his demise, the pastor, suspected to have been murdered at the early hours of yesterday, resided at No 1. Ilukwe Street, Asata in Ogui Layout, Enugu.
It was gathered that some residents of the street discovered the lifeless body of the pastor when they went to fetch water from the stream.
A source, who was present while sympathisers were pulling the victim out from the stream, told LEADERSHIP that the deceased had bruises all over his body.
“Those who went inside the stream while he was being pulled out said he had bruises in some parts of his body. They said his face looked like something that his killers used stone or nail to hit,” she stated.
The source, who preferred anonymity, expressed dismay over the murder of the pastor, saying that until his demise, he provided security at the entrance of Ilukwe Street with his dogs.
According to her, members of the deceased’s family were out of town when the incident took place.
Our correspondent who visited Ilukwe Street yesterday observed that residents of the street had relocated to unknown areas to avoid envisaged mass arrest by the police.
Enugu State Police Command spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu confirmed the death of Reverend? Nnaduagwu in a statement made available to news men, yesterday.
