The Super Eagles have been rewarded by Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa of Delta State for victories over the Pharaohs of Egypt on Tuesday night.
They were also rewarded for the win over Pirates of Seychelles.
Nigeria defeated the Pirates 3-1 in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers last day game, last Friday and got a prestigious 1-0 win over seven–time African champions, Egypt, on Tuesday.
Okowa presented the gift of N3.6m ($10,000) to Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr and another N18m ($50,000) to the team.
The Governor was not the only one rewarding good results.
Ahmed Musa had pledged to reward Nigeria’s Olympic Team with N1million if they defeated Libya and qualify for the 2019 U23 African Championship.
Musa promptly fulfilled his promise; the team received a cash gift of N4million on Monday evening immediately after their 4-0 win over Libya.
He thanked Governor Okowa for his kind gestures and support to the team, other National Teams and Nigerian Football generally.
The NFF Executive Committee praised the Delta State government for full sponsorship of the Super Eagles’ two matches, as well as augmenting for the U23 AFCON qualifier between Nigeria and Libya.
