The runner-up in Thursday’s governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State,Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isa Kutepa has called on the national secretariat of the party to do more in entrenching internal democracy, so as to strengthen democratic rule in the country.

Speaking in an interview with LEADERSHIP WEEKEND in Lokoja, the PDP chieftain noted that the call had become necessary, in view of undue interference in the nomination of the party’s candidates.

He decried the imposition of candidates by powerful individuals in most cases therefore denying the electorate the opportunity of freely choosing their leaders.
Kutepa, who also expressed concern over the controversial list of delegates used for the primaries, however ruled out calling for the concellation of the results.
Kutepa pointed out that his decision to join the race was borne out of his desire to offer quality service, as well as mobilize the various segments of the state? for development.

While describing Kogi as a PDP state, Kutepa assured that he would continue to support the ruling party, to grow from strength to strength.
