The police in Sokoto State have arrested 11 suspected political thugs, the police command's Public Relations Officer, ASP. Mustapha Sani, announced on Monday.

Parading the suspects along with weapons recovered from them before newsmen in Sokoto, Sani said the police command would not tolerate any violent activities before, during and after the March gubernatorial election in the state.

He said the suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of ongoing investigations.

“We are doing everything possible to get to the people promoting political thuggery among the youth in our state.
?
“We will arrest and prosecute any persons found breaching the peace in our state.”

The police spokesman advised parents not to allow their children to be used as thugs by desperate politicians during and after the gubernatorial election.?
