The Budget Office
of the Federation has stressed the need for Ministries, Department and
Agencies (MDAs) to continue ongoing projects rather than initiate new
ones at the expense of the former.
Bright Okogu, the
Director-General of the Budget Office, said in an interview with the
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday that the principle
formed the thrust of the 2011 budget, currently at the National
Assembly.‘‘ We emphasised to all the MDAs that ongoing projects must be
given priority.
‘‘You don’t start
new projects when you have no full provisions for existing ongoing
projects,’’ Mr. Okogu said, and stressed that the government is
discouraging the idea of abandoning old projects to start new ones.
