Activities in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, was brought to a halt as Vice President Namadi Sambo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Speaker Ghali Umar Na’abba, and Governors of Taraba, Gombe, Bauchi, and? Sokoto states, among other stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), stormed the state to flag off the re-election campaign of the state governor, Alhaji Murtala Nyako.
Addressing the mammoth crowd of party supporters,? Atiku assured President Jonathan and all Nigerians that the PDP would? win the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state, describing the opposition parties in the state as weak and incapable of wresting power from Nyako.
He expressed optimism that the Nigerian electorate would continue to keep faith with the party, as, according to him, there is no better party in Nigeria and in Adamawa State than the PDP. He noted that even those who called themselves members of the opposition in the state were initially part of the PDP family.
Speaking at the occasion, Vice President Namadi Sambo applauded the efforts of the Nyako administration to provide dividends of democracy to the people of the state as can be seen in his achievements so far which, according to him, had reduced his work as the chairman of Nyako gubernatorial campaign committee constituted by the National Secretariat of the PDP.
