The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole has told security operatives in the state to flush out all miscreants in the state. He said this yesterday in Benin City while launching the newly reconstituted state security outfit, ‘Operation Thunder Storm.’

According to Mr Oshiomhole, “there is only one common enemy against whom we must direct all our forces, namely those who choose to live on crime whether they are kidnappers, armed robbers or they are trouble makers who like to feed on the blood of innocent Nigerians.” “We want to thank you for your interest in the peace and security of Edo State. That we are able to reactivate the task force makes a volume of statement about the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Police and its commitment to peace and to make all necessary sacrifices without which Nigerians cannot be at peace,” he noted.

The governor also assured that Edo State government will continue to cooperate and collaborate with the armed forces adding that the collaboration is necessary for the maintenance of peace and stability.”One of the precondition for us to attract investment to this state and for us to sustain and accelerate development is that we must have peace and I believe that the men that are here are hungry to make a statement that there is no one in this state who is a criminal who will dare challenge the might of this Operation Thunder Storm.” He expressed the hope that with the reactivation of the Operation Thunder Storm, the state will be too hot for criminals.

In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding, 2 Division, Nigeria Army, M. D Abubakar, a Major General, said that security is the responsibility of all Nigerians adding that the Armed Forces are prepared to support the civil authority at ensuring an atmosphere of peace and security. On his part, the Brigade Commander 4 Brigade, O.A. Umahi expressed the readiness of his men to work to ensure that the State is made uninhabitable for criminals.
