Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set up a seven-member committee to try some of its members, including former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Chief Olabode George, for anti-party activities.
At statement from the party, signed by its acting Publicity Secretary, Mr. Taofeek Gani which was made available to LEADERSHIP stated that the committee, which was inaugurated on Friday, will look into the alleged anti-party activities of some members of the Party in the state.
When contacted, state chairman, Mr. Setonji Koshoedo refused to pick his call, but the Assistant State Secretary (Lagos East), Mr. Abiodun Immanuel confirmed the development, saying the exercise was aimed at uprooting the influence of Bode George, whom he accused of diverting some funds meant for the party.
“We have set up a committee to look into ways of forging unity in the party, the committee will bring everybody together, as well as, try those who may have run foul of the party’s constitution,” Immanuel said.
Apart from George, Koshoedo and the state secretary, Capt. Tunji Shelle, two national working committee members, Mr. Tunde Daramola and Mrs. Aduke Maina have been penciled down for expulsion over their roles in the said diversion.
