Organised Labour yesterday commended Nigerians for the huge success of the first day in the indefinite mass rally and protest it declared against fuel subsidy removal policy of the President Goodluck Jonathan Government that made Lagosians come out in millions in all the major streets to shut Lagos State.
It insisted that the rally continues today until the will of the Nigerian people prevails over that of any government in power.?
All major streets in Lagos as early as 7:30am were lined up with huge crowd of protesters chanting war songs in line with the five zonal locations of? TUC Secretariat at? Ikorodu Road, Maryland , Agric and Allied Workers Employees at Alaguntan, Iyana Ipaja ,Textile Union Secretariat, Acme Road, Ogba-Ikeja and Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo? action plan met for rally.
The mass action that shut nationwide business activities was resolved by Labour in collaboration with civil society orgainsations on Wednesday January 4, 2012 to commence yesterday in the 36 states of the federation, including federal capital territory to pressurize the Federal Government to revert the pump price of petrol back to N65 per litre.
As protester marched in millions at the take-off of the rally in NLC House in Yaba to late Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, protesters in their war songs claimed that “Boko Haram gave Nigerians physical bomb while President Jonathan gave Nigerians economic bomb.”
