The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Mr Olayinka Balogun, has commended the organized labour, civil society groups, police and other security agencies in the state for their orderly conduct? during the one-week protest and industrial action over the removal of fuel subsidy.
Balogun, who gave the commendation at the weekend while addressing newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, on the mass action called by NLC, said that no casualty had been recorded in the state since the commencement of the nationwide strike.
The Commissioner emphasized that the Command will continue to give adequate protections to the protesters as long as they are protest within the ambits of the law by being orderly and peaceful.
While thanking the people of the state for their support to the police in the state to ensure security of lives and property, Balogun said this was evidenced in the information they get from the people.
The police boss also dispelled the insinuation that members of Boko Haram sect have infiltrated the State, following the arrest of some people suspected to be members of the terror group in Ado Ekiti by the police based on available information n from the members of the public.
The Commissioner of Police disclosed that those that were arrested by the Police were itinerant Islamic Clerics, who were in state for religious reason and not to foment trouble, urging the members of the public to disregard the insinuation.
