Staff of the PHCN headquarters have been asked to either proceed on transfers or quit the job.
Minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji stated this yesterday at the opening of the power sector retreat in Abuja.
He said the workers were being paid for doing nothing at the headquarters as their jobs have been taken over by the successor companies.
‘’You have over 1,000 people sitting in the headquarters doing nothing. The power sector reform law has transferred all rights to the successor companies. The workers are to go there; no one is being relieved of this job,’’ he said.
He said employers could transfer staff to where their services are most needed, adding, ‘’If you don’t want to be transferred, then you leave the place.’’
On power generation he said, ‘’If the gas is there we would be generating 5,600MW today.
We expect to add 1,000MW this year as gas issue is being looked into.’’
