Eight suspects and 180 drums of petroleum products have been seized and handed over to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Calabar.
Handing over the products to the two federal government agencies, at the Naval Jetty in Calabar, the Commanding Officer,CO, NNS Victory, Navy Commodore Kingdom Itoko, said that the products and the suspects were impounded and arrested respectively in October and November 2011.
He explained that in November last year, the command impounded over 100 drums of locally refined diesel from Bonny to Calabar while over 80 drums of petrol were intercepted in October.
The Commanding Officer said that the arrest was made possible through new patrol boats acquired for the command and that the command would continue to combat all forms of economic sabotage in the maritime industry.
