The Ekiti West Local Government Area in Ekiti State has commenced aggressive infrastructural development of its towns and villages.
The Chairman of the council, Mr Sola Fakunle, said the council Headquarters on Thursday that his administration had built two basic health centers to improve health services delivery in the area.
He said a Woman Development Centre, where housewives and unemployed girls could acquire skills, had also been built in line with its empowerment programme aimed at reducing the scourge of unemployment.
Fakunle said that the Local Government had rehabilitated all the township roads in the Local Government Area adding that the contract for the construction of 5km road had been awarded in line with the directive of the State Government.
He announced that 5,000 palm tree seedlings had been planted, to be sold to farmers to improve the council's internally generated revenue.
Fakunle added that his administration had paid bursary awards to students of the council area in tertiary institutions, while exercise books were also distributed free to primary school pupils.
He thanked the people of the area for their co-operation and solicited their support for his administration.
