Governors of the 19 Northern states yesterday night, precisely at 2:00am in the morning, rose from a meeting with Vice President Namadi Sambo with a vow to putting a stop to the activities of the islamic extremist group, Boko Haram.
The governors noted that after intense brainstorming on the activities of the sect at the meeting held in Sambo’s Aguda residence from 9:00pm till 2:00am at the Presidential Villa, Abuja; it became clear to them that what the dreaded islamic sect intends to do is to divide the country.
They resolved to “go back to the old traditional way of gathering information by using people” in order to get at the group and crush them totally.
Also present at the meeting of the 19 northern governors with the Vice President are the Minister of Police Affairs, the Minister of Defence and the representative of National Security Adviser.
Speaking to State House Correspondents immediately after the five hour meeting, Niger State Governor and Chairman of the Northern governors forum, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu who admitted that the federal government is dealing with a well trained group of people who are not many but are well trained with the motive to disintegrate the nation.
He said, “We have discussed generally the activities of the so called Boko Haram, identified it and try to define who they are and, fundamentally, come to the conclusion that what they want is possible division of the country. We understand they do not recognise the constitution of Nigeria and so any attempt by anybody to either move
to the south or to the north in the name of religion or in the name of regional division is like helping the sect to succeed without any effort.
“Because their efforts like any terrorist is to create a panic situation where people’s decision will help them achieve their objective.? That is why all of us, particularly we the 19 northern governors have agreed to put a stop to the activies of the islamic sect.
