Aso Savings and? Loans Plc, a mortgage finance bank, has recorded a total of 40,000 mortgages in the country, about N32 billion
since inception.
The amount the bank said, accounted for about 67 per cent of the mortgages in the country.
Managing Director, Hassan Musa Usman, made this known at a? grand finale of? the 2011 edition of the ASO Save & Grow My Account national promo.
Statistics currently have it that the country has 16 million housing deficit.
Usman, who was represented by the Executive Director, Operations, Muhammed Shehu, said the mortgages were to create diversity and catered for the whole spectrum, from the micro? to? the? medium housing levels, including the high income level.
His words: “Not really praising Aso, but just simply stating the facts as they are. Presently, Aso Savings is? leading in terms of how many mortgages we’ve been able to issue out, in terms of the value of mortgages? in our balance sheet, in terms of the prominence of the institution.
“In terms of offering, we’ve tried as much as possible to carter for all segment of the society. In figure, we have about 40, 000 mortgages, and that is a huge figure considering the fact that in Nigeria,? you know we’ve come a long way, this accounts for about 67 per cent of the mortgages. In monetary? value it? is about N32 billion in terms of mortgages.”
On the promo, Usman pointed out that it has created vista of opportunities for both new and existing customers of the bank, stressing that it was a mechanism to empower customers, build equity for the My House Account brand and to attract new customers.?
It is also a property acquisition platform for all our prospective, new and old customers, he said.
The promo was launched across all the branch network of the mortgage finance bank in the four geo-political zones of the country on June 15, 2011, and was officially rounded off on December 15, 2011.
The Save & Win promo was a? six- month customers acquisition and account growing marketing campaign that promised to reward lucky winners with fabulous prizes that include: 20 Flat Screen Television Sets, 30 Refrigerators, 40 Deep Fryers and 50 Microwave Ovens, while a star prize winner would? win a three bedroom bungalow in a choice area of Abuja.
