Out of the hundreds of youngsters who stormed Ikeja for auditioning to play the role of Dagrin in the biopic Stingomania Entertainments is recording in the late rapper’s honour, Trybson Dudukoko has emerged the lucky chap.
Born Oladimeji Imoru Ganiyu, the Fuji artiste who lost his father to high blood pressure a few months after birth released his first album in 2009. The 25 year old Sociology graduate is a core Lagos boy having schooled in Obalende, Epe and Oshodi before moving to the University of Ilorin where he graduated a year before he released his first album.
Rising past numerous childhood setbacks, this only child hopes to reach out to all tribes of the world and that’s why he goes by the self coined name – Trybson. Hopefully, in playing the role of Dagrin – the rising star cut short in his prime, Trybson will get to fulfill his name.
Established actors starring in the movie include Doris Simeon – who’s casting as Dagrin’s girlfriend, veteran actor Kayode Odumosu (Pa Kasunmu)- Dagrin’s father; Rachael Oniga – Dagrin’s mother, Gabriel Afolayan, Kelechi Udegbe of Superstory fame and Oyindamola Odeshola, winner Next Movie Star, 2009.
After rounds of various presentations by the contestants and the eventual selection, spokesperson for Stingomania, disclosed that the eventual actors were chosen because of their similarities with the real life personalities they are supposed to represent.
Ope Banwo, the CEO of Stingomania Entertainment confessed that he is happy with the turn-out of the auditionees; and that the large turnout shows that a lot of people believe in what they are doing and relate with the dreams and ideals Dagrin stood for.
The memorial project – Ghetto Dreamz is directed by respected Nollywood director, Daniel Ademinokan.
