The Senate yesterday urged the Federal Government to immortalise late Ambassador Matthew Mbu.Mbu died in a London hospital on Monday at the age of 80years.
Observing a minute silence for the fallen nationalist who holds the distinction of being the youngest Nigerian ever to serve in the federal cabinet at the age of 23, the senate further resolved to send a delegation to condole with the deceased’s family, the people and the government of Cross River State.
The resolutions were sequel to a motion sponsored by Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, (SAN) on the demise of late Ambassador Mbu.
Leading debate on the motion, Senator Ndoma-Egba noted that the fallen hero was indeed a patriot, an icon of the legal profession and the diplomatic corps whose life was a remarkable one of service.
On his part, Senate President, David Mark, pointed out that without any iota of doubt, Nigeria had lost three icons in the persons of Ambassador Mbu, Prof Sam Aluko and Alhaji Abdulkadir Dantata.
