Lagos State House of Assembly may review the law prohibiting smoking of Indian hemp at the recreation centres of the State.
Chairman House Committee on Youths, Sports and Social Development, Hon. Babatunde Ayeni, disclosed this during the committee’s visit to the Office of Youths and Social Development at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
“The House has received complaints and petitions on the activities of hoodlums and miscreants who have turned various sports centres in the State to haven for Indian hemp smoking. As a matter of urgency, the House would review the law to fight against this bad act in our society”, he added.
The Lawmaker frowned at this development and said that the House through its Committee would review the law establishing recreation centre.
A member of the Committee, Honourable Lanre Ogunyemi, representing Ojo constituency II, narrated his experience on how miscreants defaced Public Schools in his constituency with faeces turning it into Public Toilets.
Ogunyemi, however, implored the Office of Youth and Social Development to urgently address the matter.
