No fewer than ten people? had been? killed following? Friday night's attack on the Gombe Divisional Police station by unknown gunmen.
The state Commissioner of Police , Mr. Orubebe Ebikeme who confirmed this in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Gombe said though the situation had? been brought under control, no arrest had been made.
Mr. Orubebe Ebikeme also said that two policemen, two civilians and a soldier had been injured and were now receiving treatment.
Our Correspondent who also visited the scene of the incident, found that the Gombe Divisional Police station had been destroyed with its roof completely? blown off, while over ten vehicles parked within the premises were burnt down.
Already, a 24-hour curfew has been imposed on Gombe with the streets completely deserted, while soldiers and policemen had mounted road blocks to ensure strict compliance.
The Permanent Secretary to the Governor on Media Affairs, Alhaji Adamu Musa Kumo who confirmed this said it was aimed at preventing? further loss of lives and property.
