Unknown gunmen on Thursday morning attacked the Brass and Nembe waterways and creeks of Bayelsa State, killing four policemen and four soldiers.
A commanding officer of Brass JTF unit of L.T rank was also killed in the attack.
The Police Commissioner of Bayelsa, Chris Olakpe and the State Chairman of the Maritime Union, Comrade Lyod Sese confirmed the incident.
