Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has said that his government has entered into a Public/Private Partnership (PPP) with the LR Group of Israel to develop a mechanized $140million, 3,000-hectare farm settlement in Etche, Rivers State, to further boost the rapidly growing agro-economy in the state.
This was disclosed yesterday at the maiden ‘Dissecting The Amaechi Administration’ media briefing in Government House, Port Harcourt, where the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA), Mr. Nobel Pepple, spoke for the governor on the activities of the agency, which was created by the Amaechi administration.
He stated that the state government was partnering with the LR Group of Israel, a big Israeli firm focused on agricultural development and agro-industrial projects across the world.
He disclosed that the proposed new farm settlement would cost the partners $140 million of which the state will provide $100million while the Israeli firm will supply $40millon, noting that and the farm will have connected to it a major agro-processing centre.
“In addition, the third component of that project will be the development of three major modern farming villages.? Each of those villages will have a minimum of 100 new homes built from the scratch, and each home will have at least a two-hectare piece of land attached to it,” he explained.
