Alhaji Baba-Adisa Bolanta, the Kebbi Commissioner of Police, has said that adequate security has been put in place for the smooth conduct of the state’s governorship re-run election on Saturday. ??
Bolanta said this in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The commissioner, who is also chairman of the inter-agencies' consultation committee on security for election security, said that ‘’adequate security personnel, equipment and other logistics were in place ” for the poll.?
He said the command, in conjunction with other security agencies, would provide an enabling environment for the smooth conduct of the election.
Bolanta , however, said that movement of people would be restricted to within the polling units of eligible voters and that violators of the ban on movement would be prosecuted.???
He advised political parties to ensure that their followers who are eligible to vote remained within the vicinity of their polling units until the election was over.
“We are ready to prevent any act of lawlessness within the law.”???
NAN reports that 15 political parties have candidates for the governorship re-run election that has been slated in Kebbi for Saturday.
