The Taraba Government has declared Friday a work-free day to enable the state workers to participate in the burial of the late DIG Haruna John scheduled for Saturday in Jalingo.
Alhaji Hassan Mijinyawa, the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Danbaba Suntai, disclosed this to newsmen in Jalingo on Thursday.
Mijinyawa said the governor described the late DIG John as an illustrious son of the state, noting that the deceased deserved a state burial.
“It is a great loss not only to Taraba people but to the entire country.
“He deserves a state burial and the state government is doing everything possible to give him a befitting burial,” he said.
Meanwhile, the remains of the late DIG arrived in the state on Thursday through the Jalingo air strip.
The corpse, which was received by Gov. Suntai, was accompanied by police officers led by AIG Philimon Leha and the deceased family members, including the widow, Mrs Olayinka John.
