Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has reminensced on his resignation of the post of chairman Board of Trustees (BoT) of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and declared that he completed his mission in the party.
Obasanjo therefore, dismissed insinuations in some quarters that his sudden resignation is not abrupt.
In an exclusive interview he granted Channels Television, the former President stated that contrary to wide spread belief that his resignation was rather abrupt; he had actually given notice of his decision to leave the position about a year ago.
He also stated that he has completed his mission in the party, and that it was only fitting he quits the stage.
When asked why he chose to leave so unceremoniously, the former head of state asked in return “what ceremony?” “That I should call a parade and say I want to resign”?
“These are statements I hear and I get worked up and furious” he said.
Obasanjo also attributed his decision to quit to his military background, when he referred to a discipline of “Two down.”
