The immediate past governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, on Friday wedded a 22-year-old lady in Lokoja.
Curiously, the wedding Fathia (prayer) took place in the mosque at? Lugard (Government) House, just as the reception was also held in the same venue.
Although the nuptial knot tying was meant to be secret, it attracted virtually all important personalities in the state including members of his cabinet who were recently sacked by his successor, Captain Idris Wada.
The 68-year-old former governor had not been attending public functions in Lokoja and Abuja, his business base, since his unexpected exit from office early this year following the Supreme Court judgment on tenure elongation of the affected five governors.
The lady, whose name was given simply as Ramatu, hails from Okene but her parents live in Lokoja while she (Ramatu) stays in Abuja with one of her elder sisters.
The bride who holds O’Level certificate takes to hawking of ‘senegalese’ cloths at the Presidential Villa to make a living? due to the death of her father. Luckily she met the multi-billionaire former governor which ended in their marriage last Friday.
When the news of the wedding filtered into town, most people thought it was another Ebira girl, Zainab Ajanah, a relation of the present Chief Judge of the State who allegedly put to bed for the ex-governor about six months ago. Zainab, a staff of Zenith Bank Lokoja and Idris’ wedding was expected to take place just as the Supreme Court handed down its judgement on tenure elongation matter that abruptly ended the administration of Idris alongside with four other state governors in the country.?
