Armed robbers yesterday raided Batsari Market in Batsari local government area of Katsina State? and killed? one person while? two sustained injuries. The robbers reportedly carted away undisclosed sum of monies.
It was gathered that the robbers, numbering 15, stormed the local market in the evening, shooting indiscriminately in the air before robbing unsuspecting traders of large sums of monies and valuables.
Eyewitness? said the armed men , who arrived the market in a Volkswagen golf car, shot one influential trader, Alhaji Sani and two of his sales boys.
According to our source,? the robbers managed to escape after exchange of fire following arrival of the police at the scene.
It was further gathered that Alhaji Sani who was rushed to the Katsina General Hospital along with the sales boys, died at the hospital while the other two victims are receiving treatment.
Confirming the incident,? the spokesman of Katsina State Police Command, ASP Muhammad Shehu Koko , said investigations would soon commence. He also assured that the culprits would be apprehended and made to face the law.
The robbery incident? is coming on the heels of a similar attack by armed men on Dankama market, a local border market where four people were reportedly shot dead and no fewer than 11 others sustained various degrees of injuries.
