Bauchi State council of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ)?will flag off?its press week on Monday with?visits to Bauchi prison yard,?remand home and hospitals.
In a statement on Sunday, the Press Week committee chairman, Alhaji Ado Hazad, said that the occasion would enable journalists to take stock of their activities in the previous year.
“The week will feature programmes and lectures on topical interest, including a lecture to be delivered by Prof. Umar Pate of the Department of Mass Communications, University of Maiduguri.
“The occasion will be chaired by Malam Yaya Abubakar, a veteran broadcaster.
“There will also be an award night on Saturday and the event will be chaired by the state Elders’ Advisory Committee Chairman and a one-time Secretary to the Federal Government, Alhaji Aminu Saleh.’’
According to the statement, NUJ National President Mohammed Garba will lead a delegation of national officers?to the event.
Meanwhile, the state council chairman, Malam Dahiru Mohammed, has invited friends of the media and others members of the public to attend the programmes.?(NAN)
