Abducted Spaniard Will Soon Be Released, Enugu Police Assures

The Enugu State Police Command has advised Spaniards in the country not to panic over the abduction of their kinsman, assuring that it was working hard to ensure the release of the medical practitioner.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP yesterday , the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ebere Amaraizu said the force was “on top of the situation.”

Operatives of the police, Amaraizu added, were working “round the clock” to ensure the release of the kidnapped Spaniard.

“We are working towards his release. We are on top of the situation, we are working round the clock,” he stated.

The Spanish national was abducted on April 4, 2012 from his home in? Enugu, where he was reportedly works as a doctor and was subsequently taken to an unknown destination by the gunmen.

Earlier while confirming the abduction, Amaraizu had said, “we don’t want to reveal the details of our operation so as not to jeopardise efforts to free him from his captors.”

Spain’s Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo had reportedly said in Madrid after the abduction of the Spaniard that his disappearance “has all the characteristics of a kidnapping for economic reasons.”
