The Nigerian Premier league (NPL) has warned clubs to stop making public comments capable of destroying the league over the nonpayment of their television rights dues, urging them to exercise patience on the issue.
The league in a statement said it has been faced with acute financial problems, but insisted on making sure that the ongoing? league season is run with the little funds made available by the sponsors for the meantime in order to ensure that justice is done to the league matches.
The league body said it is quite aware of the danger facined by the clubs for not getting their due television rights and would not hesitate to relinquish it to the clubs who are the actual owners of the league, when the money is made available.
The Chief Victor Baribote led -NPL administration also maintains that its administration operates within the stipulations of the NPL statute, and would apply whatever is applicable in the statute, stressing that since the running of the league revolves around money, clubs should be patient while the present board creates avenues to inject funds into the system.
