The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is to reposition outdoor advertising in the territory as one of the avenues of revenue generation for the administration.
To this end, the administration has inaugurated a committee on revenue generation/collection, and the regulation and control of outdoor advertisement structure in Abuja.
Minister of State for the FCT, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, who inaugurated the committee in Abuja, at the weekend said it was in furtherance of on-going efforts by the administration to increase its internally generated revenue (IGR).
She stressed the need for the administration to increase its IGR, saying, “We need to increase our IGR dramatically in order to be able to function and provide the amenities, services and infrastructure needed for the territory to function.”
Akinjide noted that the daily influx of people into the city had put a strain on services and noted that the administration would not achieve much without generating more revenue.
