Security: Lagos Police Command To Deploy Tracker Dogs

The Lagos State Police Command said on Monday that it would soon deploy tracker dogs at event centres and social gatherings.

The command's spokesman, SP Joseph Jaiyeoba, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the measure was part of efforts to forestall planting of bombs and other explosives on such occasions.

“The use of tracker dogs will help to discover bombs and other explosives that may be planted on such occasions by terrorists.

“The dogs have already been deployed to Area Commands which are expected to use them in monitoring big business premises and event centres in their areas,’’he said.

Jaiyeoba advised residents to always be on the alert and report any object or suspicious movement by suspected terrorists to the police for quick intervention.

He added that Area Commanders and other departments of the police had been ordered to step up security patrol and surveillance across the state.

“We will continue to be on top of security situation in Lagos. Residents should not entertain any fear.

“Residents should go about their lawful activities without any fear,’’the spokesman said. (NAN)
