As calm returns to Jos, after Sunday suicide bomb attack on Christ Chosen Church, the state government has cautioned youths against taking the law into their hands after such incidents.
The Commissioner for Information, Mr Abraham Yiljap, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Monday that “youths must resist the temptation to go haywire when emergencies happen''.
Yiljap said, “the youths should also know that it is part of their duty to support security agencies by not destroying evidences in the vicinities of such attacks.
“this is because such evidences could be useful in ending the violence on Plateau.''
He said that the police and the Special Task Force (STF) charged with maintaining peace in Jos must be allowed to carry out their duties, adding that the outfits were committed and capable of protecting the people.
The commissioner condemned the blasts, and said that they had punctured the peace the state had enjoyed for sometimes.
“The state government is pained by this attack just as it is pained by anything that will create pain for anyone resident in Plateau, but we must collectively put heads together to put an end to such wild happenings.
“Plateau State belongs to all of us and we must be seen to be working toward safeguarding it and protecting it from its enemies,’’ he said. (NAN)
