An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates' Court on Friday remanded eight men in police custody for alleged armed robbery and snatching of three cars.

They are to remain in custody till July 16 pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Six of the accused are facing armed robbery charge while Oladipupo is standing trial over unlawful possession of a gun and a live cartridge.
The prosecutor, ASP Innocent Effiong, told the court that the men snatched a car at gun point on May 15 at Davis St., Ketu, in the metropolis while Oladipupo was nabbed at Lasisi Street in Mushin with the arms.
He said the accused had sometime in February also dispossessed one Kunle Dada of his Honda Accord saloon car.
“The men robbed their victims of their cars armed with guns and other dangerous weapons sometime in February and on May 15 in Ketu, Lagos,’’ Effiong said.
In addition, he said the accused allegedly robbed one Mudashiru Hakeem of his car with registration no. LP 180 EKY and other valuables worth N400, 000.
Effiong said the offences contravened Sections 1 (2), 3 (1) and 6 (b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.
Chief Magistrate C. T. Adesola-Ikpatt threatened to strike out the case if the advice of the DPP was not “properly documented’’.
“I expect the DPP's advice on whether this court can hear this case or not to be duly signed by the legal department of the police and properly documented and passed to my court.
“I will not tolerate any lapse from the police in this case or else I will squash the charges against the accused on the adjournment date.
“There will be no need to take the pleas of the accused,’’ she said. (NAN)
