RB singer Lami will host fans to a
night of soulful music tonight, April 8, 2011, at the Oriental Hotel,
Victoria Island. The singer, real name Lami Philips, will be playing
songs off her debut album, ‘Intuition’ as well as new tracks from her
yet to be released sophomore at the event tagged ‘Lami Unplugged’.
Speaking about the
event, the Chicago-born Nigerian singer couldn’t conceal her
excitement. “I want to use the opportunity to appreciate my friends and
fans who have stuck with me since I arrived on the scene,” the ‘Know’
singer said.
“I haven’t been
very much available to them because of so many commitments but they
have enjoyed my music and made me feel loved and I just want to use
this opportunity to express my gratitude to them,” she continued.
According to the
singer, ‘Lami Unplugged’ will also feature guest appearances from past
collaborators with the singer as well as collaborators from the
upcoming album like OJB Jazreel, M.I, eLDee the Don, Ikon, Kel and
Sound Sultan amongst others.
She promised that
the night will be one of delight. “All the songs would be delivered in
a special way different from the way they appear on the CD so that the
guests can feel them in a different way while I introduce them to some
of the songs on the forthcoming album,” she said.
Lami released her
debut single, ‘Know’, featuring rapper M.I in 2009 and a full album
that earned an ‘A2’ rating on X2’s Xamination in 2010. She was born in
Illinois, USA, and attended the Universities of Kent and Nottingham. In
August 2010, she was appointed an Advocate for the United Nations
Millennium Campaign.
