Ashaka Cement Company in Gombe State, on Tuesday donated relief materials to Wuro Dulo community whose members?were displaced by flood in Lawanti village, Akko Local Government Area of?the state.
The items donated included 50 bags of rice, 100 nylon mats, 50 treated mosquito nets and a carton of anti-malaria drugs for children.
Presenting the materials, Dr Abdullahi Gimba, the General Manager, Sales and Marketing, said the?company had?received a letter from an NGO, Child Protection Network, urging?it to assist the?displaced people.
Gimba said the company responded immediately because it was a service to humanity.
He said the company was ever-ready to assist whenever the need arose.
Receiving the items, Malam Jauro Adamu, the village head of the community, said the disaster displaced?50 households?with more than 150 persons.
He said this was the first relief?assistance received by the victims?and thanked the?company for the gesture.
Mrs Alheri Garba, Gombe State Coordinator, Child Protection Network, said the group?had visited the affected community when it learnt about the plight of the victims.
She said the network promptly?wrote a letter to the cement company and other well-to-do individuals in Gombe asking for their assistance. (NAN)
