The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), yesterday, described recent attempts by job racketeers to destabilise the hard earned integrity of the Security outfit as repulsive and has thus, vowed to expose the characters behind the illicit trade.
The Corps Commandant General, Prof. Ade Abolurin who expressed bitterness over the speculations in some section of the media that? its jobs were sold, said in a statement signed by its Public Relations officer, Mr. Emmanuel Okeh, that his organisation, was among? many government agencies which worked hard to ensure? transparency in its operations.
Prof. Abolurin who vowed to deal decisively with job racketeers, for daring to drag its hard earned integrity in the mud, disclosed that some arrests have been made.
He said the Corps was working together with the EFCC and ICPC to track down all those impersonating staff members of the Corps in order to defraud desperate applicants.
Abolurin who wondered why scammers are patronised, pointed out that in order to ensure transparency, equity, fairness and justice in their recruitment exercise, they usually involve other security agencies such as the EFCC, ICPC, Police, Armed Forces and NGOs’.
The statement revealed that the Corps has in a joint operation with the ICPC in Lagos, nabbed one of the recruitment scammers who was traced to his home town in Osun State, while over 20 others have been? arraigned in different courts. He added that one of the arrested racketeers? in Niger State, have been jailed for seven years while another in Kaduna has been jailed for 21 years.
The statement reads in part: “we will not stand by and watch all our momentous sacrifice and war against compromise being flushed down the drain by greedy criminals. Abolurin however, expressed confidence that not all Nigerians were fooled to falling prey to the waiting nets of the fraudsters and warned that they will be exposed for the fraud they are.??
“As a credible organisation with high sense of integrity, the Corps slogan is ‘Collect Bribe and Die’, ‘Compromise and be kidnapped’ which serves as an oath of allegiance, by instilling fear, discipline, commitment and moral upright in the personnel.
Therefore, the Corps will not condon any act of sabotage from any group of persons who have appointed themselves as agents and consultants in the name of defrauding youths seeking for employment.”
