The former Inspector General of Police(IGP), Alhaji? Mohammadu Gambo? Jimeta, has accused members of the Northern Elders Forum of pulling down pillars of national unity and? sowing seeds of enmity, by attacking the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Alhaji Jimeta who was reacting to statement credited to the Northern Elders Forum that Jonathan’s administration was worse than that of former President Olusegun Obasanjo accused the northern elders of being mischievous? and hypocritical saying “they have all, at one time or another contributed to the quagmire we find ourselves today.”
The northern elders had alleged recently that the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan is worse than? that of former President Olusegun? Obasanjo in all ramifications.
But in a statement entitled: “To Those Who Cast Stones: Comments On The Northern Elders Forum On Nigeria At 52”, Alhaji Gambo Jimeta said instead of standing up against tyranny and? finding real solutions to the nation’s problems, the Northern Elders “choose cowardly path of using this blame game as a distraction to create confusion and mistrust.”
“As for the unfortunate comment credited to the Northern Elders Forum that “Jonathan’s government is worse than Obasanjo’s government, it is disappointing to note that other Nigerians who should have been steering the course of nation building decided to pull those pillars down by sowing the seed of enmity, division and political hypocrisy in order to distract Nigerians from the truth”. He said that rather than rolling up their sleeves to actively find solutions to the suffering of Nigerians, they chose to pull the country backward through their blame game.
