Three armed robbery suspects including a youth corps member (names withheld) serving in Kwara state have been arrested by men of Kwara State Police Command over an alleged armed robbery incident.
The Kwara state coordinator of NYSC, Mrs. Ezinne Ezekwe said she has not been informed of the incident.
However, the spokesman of Kwara State Police command, Olufemi Fabode confirmed the incident.
He said investigation has commenced on the incident, adding that the press would be fully briefed when the investigation is concluded. It was gathered that the corps menber and his gang had during the week stormed a big shop along Taiwo Road, Ilorin and held customers and the staff at gun point.
In the operations that lasted about 30 minutes, the suspected armed robbers were said to have forcefully collected money, phones and accessories from customers and the staff running into millions of naira and escaped in a waiting Toyota salon car.
Luck however, ran out of them when the victims raised an alarm of the robbery incident pointing at the runaway car that was taking the suspects away.
Some by-standby and passers-bye and other enraged sympathizers pursued the suspects in various directions and were nabbed in a traffic hold up.
The suspects having noticed that the game was up jumped out of the vehicle and took to their heels before they were nabbed and taken to A Division Police station, Ilorin.
Investigation revealed that the youth corps member among the suspects was posted to serve in Ira, a small town near Igbaja in Ifelodun local government area of the state from where he and his accomplices came to rob at the state capital.
