Mr Nnamdi Udoh, Managing Director, Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) on Monday urged airline operators to embrace e-flight innovation to reduce flight delays.
Speaking at a training programme for airlines in the country in Lagos on Monday, Udoh noted that the training itself was part of the strategy at reducing flight delays at the nation's airports.
“The training for the airline officials on 'e-Flight Planning Workshop for Airlines' is the central focus of the transformation from Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) to Aeronautical Information Management.
“The training is meant to educate airline operators on the need to imbibe e-flight planning to reduce flight delays and improve services to their customers,'' he said.
Udoh described the training exercise as timely considering the on-going automation project of the AIS.
Mr Babatunde Shittu, Assistant Chief AIS Officer in the agency, said the workshop was informed by the current drive by the management to prevent errors in the filing of flight plans by the airlines.
Shittu noted that with proper training of the airline officials on e-flight plan, the manual way of doing so would be eliminated.
He noted that the business innovation through automation would bring about high quality service delivery to their numerous customers.
The Agency's Chief Information Officer, Mr Ogochukwu Ifeanyi, indicated that the agency would organise another workshop in November to evaluate the current usage and provide opportunity for other airlines to participate.
