In a letter made available to LEADERSHIP WEEKEND The SUG stated in clear terms that “we the student union government representatives were not duly consulted before such a decision was taken.”
The letter signed by Nanlop Maya and Lucky P. Dikshik, Ag. President and Sec. Gen. respectively, reminded the management that “There has not been any visible development or project” done to justify the development levy charged in recent past and now to demand for such levy is outrageous.
According to the letter, “The outrageous amount posted on the school website as school fee and hostel accommodation of N 27,000 and N12,500 as against N12,000 and N4,500 respectively” paid last session was unacceptable.??
The students maintained that if the institution go ahead to implement the new fees, “Those (students) catering for themselves will find it difficult, it may even lead to some students dropping out of school, as they cannot afford such tuition fee”
The letter was copied to the various security agencies in the state and other stake holders in the system.
